Commercial gutter cleaning in Hampshire and the South Coast

We provide commercial gutter cleaning for facilities managers, property managers, managing agents and landlords of blocks and estates: offices, industrial units, schools and flats, cleared safely and reported clearly.

Why blocked gutters cost more on a commercial building

On a house, an overflowing gutter usually means a damp patch. On a commercial building the same blockage can run for months before anyone notices, because nobody on site is looking up. By then water may be in the fabric of the building, through a ceiling into an office or classroom, or down the face of a block onto an entrance.

Access makes it worse. Gutters on larger or taller buildings can't be cleared from a ladder in ten minutes, so a small problem left alone becomes a bigger job, with more set-up and more disruption to the people using the building.

Then there is liability. Water spilling onto a walkway, freezing on a path or soaking stock and equipment is a risk to occupants and visitors, and to your insurance position. A record that the gutters were cleared, and when, is part of showing the building was properly maintained.

High-level and difficult-access gutters

We choose the access for the building, not the other way round. Many low-rise gutters can be cleared from the ground with a gutter vacuum system. Where we need to be at the gutter, we use ladders, our Easi-Dec access platforms (around two storeys, with guardrails, toe boards and stabilisers), scaffolding, or a cherry picker or other access platform for higher roofs.

Easi-Dec platforms go up and come down quickly, rest on pads rather than fixings, and can bridge over canopies, porches and low roofs, which keeps set-up short around entrances and working areas.

A one-off clear or a planned maintenance contract

If gutters haven't been touched in years, or a leak has prompted a call, we start with a one-off clear of the whole system: gutters, outlets and downpipes, so water can get away from the roof.

For buildings and portfolios you manage year round, a planned programme is usually better value than reacting to leaks. Visits are scheduled ahead, typically before and after the heaviest leaf fall, and each site is cleared to the same standard every time.

To confirm with Blue Shield: Contract terms Blue Shield offers: visit frequencies, how multi-site portfolios are priced and invoiced, and minimum term or notice period.

Reporting and photo evidence for your property files

We photograph the gutters before and after we clear them, and note anything we find: cracked or sagging sections, failed joints, blocked or damaged downpipes, and places where guards would cut down future visits. You get a record you can file against the building, share with a landlord or client, or use to plan repairs.

The report comes to you as a PDF.

Questions we're asked

How often should commercial gutters be cleaned?

It depends on the building and what is around it: a site surrounded by trees fills its gutters far faster than an open one. We'll suggest a frequency after the first visit, based on what we actually find in the gutters.

Can you work around an occupied building, or out of hours?

Yes, we plan around the people using the building. We keep set-up short, keep entrances clear and tidy up as we go.

To confirm with Blue Shield: Whether Blue Shield works evenings, weekends or school holidays, and any extra charge for out-of-hours visits.

How do you reach high or awkward gutters?

With whichever is safest for the building: a gutter vacuum system from the ground, ladders, Easi-Dec platforms, scaffolding, or a cherry picker for higher roofs. We assess the access before we quote.

Will we get evidence the work was done?

Yes. We take before and after photos and report any damage or defects we find, so you have a record for the property file.

What insurance and paperwork do you provide?

We carry £5 million insurance, we're Constructionline Gold and SSIP accredited, and our teams are IPAF and PASMA trained.

To confirm with Blue Shield: Whether Blue Shield supplies RAMS, insurance certificates and accreditation evidence for contractor approval.

Can you look after several sites on one contract?

Yes, we can schedule a portfolio of buildings as one programme so each site is visited at the right time of year.

To confirm with Blue Shield: How multi-site contracts are set up and priced, and how quickly Blue Shield responds to an urgent blockage between scheduled visits.
