Mould removal
Safe, thorough mould removal that finds the cause, so it doesn't come back.
The problem
The treatmentMould is a fungus that thrives in warm, damp conditions and grows on walls, floors and ceilings. It can cause breathing problems and allergies, especially for children, older people and anyone with a weakened immune system, and it damages the building if it's left.
Removing it properly means finding and fixing the cause as well as the visible growth. We use specialist equipment, including HEPA filters, negative air machines and full protective kit, and we can find hidden mould before it spreads.
If you're a landlord, you have a duty of care to keep your property safe to live in. Using a professional shows you've taken reasonable steps to protect your tenants.
What you get
- Better air quality. Cleaner indoor air, which matters for everyone's health.
- Protects the property. Stops mould weakening and staining the building.
- Keeps you compliant. In line with government guidance and a landlord's legal duties.
- Peace of mind. For the people who live there, and for you as the owner.
How a mould removal job runs
Inspection
We inspect the property to see how far the mould has spread and what's causing it, using moisture meters and thermal imaging where needed.
Contain and remove
We seal off the affected area so spores can't spread, then remove the mould with specialist equipment and cleaning solutions.
Prevent and restore
We deal with the source of the moisture, treat the area with an antimicrobial solution against regrowth, and restore any damaged surfaces.
Questions we're asked
Is mould removal a DIY job?
A small patch can sometimes be cleaned with household products. Anything larger needs a specialist, with the equipment and training to remove it safely, stop it spreading and fix the cause.
How long does it take?
Anywhere from a few hours to several days, depending on how far it has spread and what's involved, from inspection through to restoration.
Is mould covered by insurance?
It depends on your policy. Mould from a sudden leak may be covered; mould from long-term damp often isn't. Check with your insurer.
How do I stop it coming back?
By dealing with the moisture behind it: fixing leaks, improving ventilation and keeping humidity down. We'll tell you what your property needs.
Is mould dangerous?
It can be, particularly for children, older people and anyone with a weakened immune system or a breathing condition. It's best dealt with quickly.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the size of the area, how severe the growth is and what's causing it. We inspect first, then give you a quote.
What customers say
Had a full team and they were amazing. Can not believe the difference - the roof tiles 35 years old now look brand new and the 5yr guarantee means no more moss or clogging of drain pipes. Am super happy and they cleaned up so well - and there was a lot to clear up. Windows and gutters all sparkling.
“We had a 4 man team for 2 days cleaning the exterior of the house. Every member of the team was friendly, approachable, professional and worked to a very high standard. The team turned up on-time, got their equipment set up and went to work. Couldn't be happier with the service; the attention to detail and end result speaks for itself; one of my neighbours even came round to enquire about having their house done. I highly recommend Blue Shield; you wont be disappointed.”

“2 day clean carried out on a very large residential roof. The results are outstanding and the house looks new. The team were polite and friendly and explained everything they were doing across the 2 days. Also had 2 slipped tiles and a broken tile that were all fixed too. I would highly recommend Blueshield!”
